  • Warehouse Supervisor

    Job Details

    A Warehouse Supervisor works in a dynamic team environment alongside general laborers, forklift drivers, quality control, machine operators, and the Human Resources team to ensure production and other processes within the warehouse operation are running smoothly. If standards are met for quality, safety, and employee performance, and a positive team atmosphere is maintained, the Warehouse Supervisor has done their job well!

    Job Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

    • Coaching and training employees on proper packing/warehouse procedures
    • Planning, delegating, motivating, and leading the team daily to improve performance, while ensuring work is done efficiently, correctly, and up to quality standards.
    • Collaborating with the Warehouse Manager and Warehouse Supervisors to ensure proper allocation of staff and work
    • Ensuring production lines are organized, prepared, cleaned, and maintained to Health and Safety standards and ensuring only quality products are packaged.
    • Ensuring all production requirements are met daily
    • Ensuring quality standards are always met and compliance of all Health and Safety and Food Safety policies and procedures are maintained.
    • Providing feedback, conducting performance reviews and if necessary; applying progressive discipline processes for non-compliances, in a respectful manner
    • Monitoring and reporting maintenance needs to the Maintenance Department or performing minor repairs as needed.
    • Maintaining and completing pre-operational and post cleaning procedure checklists for production lines
    • Maintaining confidentiality of all proprietary information, Company data, and personnel information
    • Completing required paperwork according to policies set out by Nature Fresh

    Job Requirements:

    • Supervisor experience is an asset but not a requirement
    • Excellent oral communication skills are essential
    • Must be a team player and able to effectively lead and direct the work of others
    • Attention to detail is essential
    • English is required; ability to speak Spanish is an asset
    • Available to work Monday through Saturday; flexibility is required to meet the changes in production levels

    Workplace Conditions

    • Winter temperatures are comfortable however please note that summer temperatures can be very warm and humid

  • Operational Maintenance Technician

    Ketler Farms is a joint venture operation with Nature Fresh Farms Inc.  It is a 30-acre state-of-the art greenhouse facility that is committed to quality vegetable production.  We are seeking a committed Operational Maintenance Technician with initiative and drive to manage all aspects of Ketler Farms Maintenance.

    Job Details

    Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Operational Maintenance Technician is solely responsible for the maintenance of Ketler Farms properties, facilities, and equipment.  Their primary responsibility is to troubleshoot and complete tasks such as building repairs and maintenance, property upkeep, equipment repairs and maintenance at our Greenhouse operations to maintain property standards while ensuring compliance with Health and Safety standards.

    Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Inspect, perform minor/major/routine repairs, and follow preventative maintenance on buildings, i.e., greenhouses, warehouses, bunkhouses; including, welding, replacing and repairing parts, basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry.
    • Create preventative maintenance schedule, perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and facilities.
    • Inspecting and examining machinery, electrical and mechanical equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions.
    • Operating machine tools to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance, or set-up of machinery.
    • Ensuring guarding and operating safety devices function properly on completion of repairs, modifications, and installations.
    • Transfer equipment to the applicable site for maintenance to avoid contamination or safety hazards.
    • Reading diagrams, blueprints, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
    • Keeping detailed and accurate maintenance checklists, reports, and documentation.
    • Obtain quotes, approval and PO’s for purchases and vendors.
    • Coordinate with contractors and outside vendors in collaboration with the Operations Manager to support scheduling of equipment and facility maintenance and ensuring administrative duties are completed including detailed and accurate record keeping of services performed, supporting invoicing verification and processing.
    • Snow removal and grounds upkeep when required.
    • Maintaining a clean and environmentally safe work area.
    • Adhering to workplace safety policies, regulations, and compliances.
    • Other duties that may or may not fall outside of the scope of maintenance requirements defined by the company.

    Job Requirements:

    • 3+ years of Greenhouse Maintenance experience would be an asset.
    • Millwright, basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry knowledge, tool & die experience are an asset, welding experience is required.
    • Experience using hand and electrical tools is required.
    • Able to read and understand work orders, manuals, drawings, and other types of reports.
    • Experience using hand and electrical tools is required.

    • Experience with irrigation systems would be an asset.
    • Basic math abilities required.

    As a member of the Quality Control team, you work with the warehouse and greenhouse teams to ensure the final product that we are packing, and shipping meets or exceed Nature Farm Farms quality standards.  The Quality Control team guarantees that all packed products are in the best condition possible for distribution.  We are committed to ensuring our customers get only the best fresh produce from our farm, and our Quality Control team is essential to achieving this goal!

    Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Checking the quality of bins from the greenhouse and the quantity of produce coming into the warehouse from the greenhouse.
    • Assessing the product specifications and testing them against customer requirements.
    • Checking and recording specifications, such as fruit size, weight, width, length, colour, and imperfections.
    • Inputting the observations into an Excel spreadsheet.
    • Ensuring product compliance within legal and quality standards.
    • Preparing reports, discussing progress and requirements with the management team.
    • Inspecting recording, and reporting the quality status of all incoming, outgoing, and current commodities.
    • Completing other duties as requested by the supervisor.

    Job Requirements:

    • Experience in Quality Control is an asset.

  • Production Forklift Operator

    JOB DETAILS:

    As part of the Distribution Center team, the Production Forklift Driver is responsible for ensuring products and dry goods are allocated to the appropriate lines and handled in a timely, accurate, safe manner, and equipment is maintained.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Visually inspect forklift prior to operation using the approved Compliance check-off sheet.
    • Report any equipment damage or malfunctions to the supervisor or manager.
    • Verify orders with pick tickets to ensure accuracy in allocated product and dry goods.
    • Delivers allocated product and dry goods using a forklift to the appropriate lines.
    • Sorts and distributes product within production/coolers and throughout the warehouse as needed, etc.
    • Maintains accurate quantities, weights, and tags per pallet based on orders through inventory counts and stock checks.
    • Fulfills requests for product and materials from line leaders/supervisors via radio to ensure production/line needs are met.
    • Use of plastic wrap machine.
    • Updates and maintains all necessary paperwork in an accurate and timely matter.
    • Performs work accurately and efficiently to meet or exceed daily workload requirements.
    • Ensures equipment maintenance program and all safety measures/requirements are always being followed.
    • Ensures production and coolers are organized, cleaned and protocol for housekeeping is being followed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • Forklift experience is an asset – we should require 1 year of forklift experience only because there is a lot of tight maneuvering.
    • Able to work well with minimal supervision for most of the shift.
    • Fast-paced work environment: flexibility, adaptability, and attention to detail are essential.
    • Must display a respectful and positive attitude.
    • Safety shoes are mandatory.
    • Must be available to work from Sunday-Friday – hours range from 40-55 per week and will fluctuate according to the needs of the business.

    WORKPLACE CONDITIONS:

    • Fast-paced warehouse environment where temperatures vary from cooler to temperature-controlled areas.
    • Working with a wide array of people/cultures in a team setting. These include offshore workers, locals, contractors, and vendors, etc.

  • Maintenance Technician

    We are currently seeking an applicant to join our team and fill a full-time position as a Maintenance Technician at our greenhouse operation in Delta, OH.

    Job Description

    The Maintenance employees are responsible for working on their assigned tickets and keeping the farm in good and safe working condition.  General maintenance tasks include but are not limited to building repairs & maintenance, equipment repairs & maintenance and troubleshooting building systems.

    Job Specific Duties

    Job duties include, but are not limited to:

    • The maintenance employees are responsible for checking their work orders on ConnectWise and prioritizing them on a regular basis. The Maintenance Manager would assist with prioritizing.
    • Closing work orders as completed.
    • Troubleshoot and complete routine repairs, general maintenance, and preventative maintenance, such as: installation and maintenance of machines and equipment, emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment as well as scheduled maintenance repairs as directed.
    • Regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and facilities as directed.
    • Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities, as directed.
    • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
    • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions around the farm as required.
    • Use a variety of hand and power tools, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
    • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual issues to the Maintenance Manager.
    • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
    • Order parts as required for machinery or anything that is requiring repair.
    • Assisting the IT department to in handing out IT equipment (cell phones, lap tops, etc.) to employees as needed and complete proper documentation for IT equipment usage with employee.
    • Using remote access with IT Department to set up computers.
    • Collecting IT items when no longer needed by the employee.
    • Maintaining the inventory of IT equipment that is kept at the facility.

    Qualifications

    • Millwright, tool & die and/or general farm maintenance experience are assets
    • Welding experience an asset
    • Experience using hand and electrical tools
    • Ability to read and understand work orders and other types of reports
    • Ability to read manuals and drawings an asset
    • Basic math abilities required
    • Ability to analyze and reason problems and issues; attention to detail
    • Must have great written and verbal communication skills
    • Must be safety conscientious and be able to keep work area tidy
    • Must be handy and capable of utilizing tools
    • Must have PVC Plumbing Experience

    Working Conditions

    • Some confidentiality in regards to company-related matters

    • The Maintenance employee is expected to report to work from Monday-Saturday with occasional Sundays

    Job Overview

    Our Supervisors play a key role in completing day-to-day greenhouse vegetable operations to ensure the necessary produce is harvested and packaged to meet customer orders and standards. It is a Supervisor’s responsibility to ensure that employees apply proper plant maintenance for successful plant growth, picking and packing for quality production. Supervisors will often be assigned to specific areas that are most suited towards their skill set.

    Job responsibilities include; but are not limited to: 

    • Coaching employees and demonstrating proper plant maintenance processes such as pruning, twisting, de-leafing, picking, clipping, string tying etc. on an on-going basis
    • Planning, delegating, motivating the team well to improve performance and quality, while ensuring work is done efficiently, correctly and up to quality standards.
    • During crop turnover they are responsible for ensuring all cleanout tasks and start up tasks are completed including ensuring the greenhouse is cleaned and ready for planting
    • Monitoring plant conditions and reporting any concerns to the Growers.
    • Ensuring production lines are organized, prepared, cleaned and maintained and ensuring only quality products are packaged
    • Maintaining and completing pre-operational and post cleaning procedure checklists for production lines
    • Training, organizing and developing work schedules
    • Collaborating with the Growers to ensure proper allocation of staff and work
    • Aiding in pest monitoring and helping staff identify pest and disease problems
    • Ensuring all company health and safety and food compliance policies, procedures and standards are adhered to while upholding and monitoring quality control to ensure standards are met at all times
    • Maintaining confidentiality of all proprietary information, as well as other Company data, including personnel information
    • Monitoring and reporting maintenance needs to the Growers and Maintenance Department or preforming minor repairs in the greenhouse or warehouse, as needed.

    Job Details

    The  Assistant Warehouse Manager assists the Warehouse operations Manager by overseeing daily warehouse operations across the Distribution Center, specifically in Production and Shipping/Receiving. They ensure food safety, proper packaging, shipping/receiving, labour and training requirements are met. They work with management to resolve daily operational issues, improve employee training and productivity.

    Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Works on short-term and long-term operational goals within the Production and Shipping/Receiving departments as determined by the Warehouse Manager, including but not limited to the following areas:
      • Cost savings or efficiency strategies
      • Warehouse maintenance/improvement
      • Internal company communication
      • General administration
    • Designs, updates and reviews operational reports, metrics and KPI’s to assist the WH Manager with analyzing/tracking how well departmental objectives are being met within Production and Shipping/Receiving departments.
    • Ensures timely communication and positive working relationships within the DC as well as Sales, Greenhouse, Maintenance, Purchasing, etc. on a daily basis. Works on improving overall communications.
    • Supports Production Manager:
      • Explain proper packing processes to employees.
      • Watch packing lines and operations flow to ensure the warehouse teams are following schedules and meeting pack specifications.
      • Ensures correct containers, labels, stickers, weights, product, etc. are always being used.
      • Ensure agreed improvements in production techniques are implemented.
      • Attentive to the level of quality of packing to ensure they meet company and customer standards.
      • Monitors the product realization process to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
    • Works directly with managers to resolve issues, helps provide resources or ensure all agreed processes are fully implemented. Holds short meetings as needed to discuss and address any concerns or to provide updates.
    • Regularly updates the WH Manager on manpower needs, schedule adjustments, progress, breakdowns, and/or serious operational issues.
    • Must stay in contact with WH Manager on a regular basis in order for Sales to have an understanding of quantity and rate of completion.
    • Place work orders as needed and communicate maintenance/purchasing needs with WH Manager.
    • Assists the WH Manager with tracking budget.
    • Works within the established company and governmental Occupational Health and Safety and Food Safety policies and regulations.
    • Works collaboratively with HR, Compliance, IT and Finance to ensure consistency in application of policies and procedures, etc. Investigates any incidents or accidents and submit findings to WH Manager. Implements agreed corrective action(s) with management.
    • With the assistance of WH Manager and HR, issue verbal and written warnings, as necessary. Coaching for improvement is essential to improve quality and behavioural deficiencies.
    • Assist in new hire training, 90-day probation and annual performance reviews. Provides feedback to employees.
    • Under the guidance of WH Manager and HR, participate interviews and hiring process of advanced positions as needed.
    • Backup to Production and Shipping/Receiving management & WH Manager during absences or vacations.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Job Requirements:

    • Some supervisory experience working in warehouse or produce managing staff, operations, etc. is preferred.
    • Post-secondary experience in Management, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Business, is preferred but not a requirement.
    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including good Excel skills.
    • Very high degree of confidentiality and integrity required regarding all aspect of the business.
    • Ability to gain trust and maintain respectful relationships with employees at all levels and across all departments is critical.
    • Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve complex problems with limited information and changing conditions.

General Laborers are taught all the skills necessary to work safely and efficiently, and they are expected to perform a wide array of tasks. A General Laborer will often be assigned to specific tasks that are most suited towards their skill set and previous experience.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Crop Start-up: Placing coco slabs, placing drip hose, rolling out CO2 hose, planting, tying strings, clipping plants, applying biologicals, etcetera
    • Crop Maintenance: Clipping, twisting, suckering, de-leafing, fruit pruning, lowering the plants, applying solution to scrapes, etcetera
    • Product Prep for Market: Picking the product, sorting product, packaging product, box making, stacking, cart driving, etcetera
    • Crop Cleanout: stringing, rolling out tarp, removing plants, sweeping, removing plant debris, washing and sanitizing the greenhouse.
    • General Cleanup will be expected in all areas of the greenhouse on a continuous basis

    Job Requirements

    Experience is an asset – however, if the candidate shows commitment and a willingness to learn, we are willing to train.

    • Good communication skills and attention to detail are essential
    • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
    • Must be able to distinguish colors
    • Must be able to work Monday through Saturday and work unpredictable hours
    • Workplace Conditions
    • Working with minimal supervision
    • Must be able to stand long periods of time; bending, crouching, kneeling

    Wage is $14.52/hour.
