  • Forklift Operator

    Job Details

    As part of the Warehouse team, the Forklift Driver is responsible for ensuring products are received, shipped, and handled in a timely, accurate and safe manner, and equipment is maintained.

    Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Loading and unloading of trucks, unpacking received goods.
    • Inspection and verification of all shipments and incoming goods against packing slips
    • Sorting shipments and distributing product once they have been unloaded.
    • Undertake physical inventory counts and stock checks.
    • Material handling
    • Delivery of materials to the appropriate storage area or department.
    • Updating and maintaining all necessary paperwork in an accurate and timely matter.
    • Preparing packing slips and ensuring coordination with driver.
    • Performing work accurately and meet or exceeds daily workload requirements.
    • Ensuring equipment maintenance program is maintained and all safety measures and requirements are met.
    • Ensuring work areas are safe, clean and organized at all times.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements

    Job Details

    As part of the Warehouse team, the Box Maker is responsible for ensuring the Production Line has a sufficient supply of boxes in order to fulfill orders.

    • Assembles boxes using box making machinery and equipment.

  • Warehouse Supervisor

    We are currently seeking an applicant to join our team and fill a full-time position as a Warehouse Supervisor at our greenhouse operation in Leamington, ON.

    Job Details
    A Warehouse Supervisor works in a dynamic team environment alongside General Laborers, Forklift Drivers, Quality Control, Machine Operators, and the Human Resources team to ensure production and other processes within the warehouse operation are running smoothly. If production quotas are met while maintaining quality and safety standards, employee performance, and a positive team atmosphere the Warehouse Supervisor has done their job well.

    Job responsibilities include; but are not limited to:
    • Coaching and training employees on proper packing/warehouse procedures
    • Planning, delegating, motivating and leading the team daily to improve performance, while ensuring work is done efficiently, correctly and up to quality standards
    • Collaborating with the Warehouse Manager and Warehouse Supervisors to ensure proper allocation of staff and work
    • Ensuring production lines are organized, prepared, cleaned and maintained to Health and Safety standards and ensuring only quality products are packaged
    • Ensuring all production requirements are met daily
    • Ensuring quality standards are met at all times and compliance of all Health and Safety and Food Safety policies and procedures are maintained
    • Providing feedback, conducting performance reviews and if necessary; applying progressive discipline processes for non-compliances, in a respectful manner
    • Monitoring and reporting maintenance needs to the Maintenance Department or performing minor repairs as needed.
    • Maintaining and completing pre-operational and post cleaning procedure checklists for production lines
    • Maintaining confidentiality of all proprietary information, Company data, and personnel information
    • Completing required paperwork according to policies set out by Nature Fresh Farms

    Job Requirements

    • Supervisor experience is an asset but not a requirement
    • Excellent oral communication skills are essential
    • Must be a team player and able to effectively lead and direct the work of others
    • Attention to detail is essential
    • English is required; ability to speak Spanish is an asset
    • Available to work Monday through Saturday; flexibility is required to meet the changes in production levels

    We are currently seeking applicants to join our team and fill full-time positions as skilled maintenance workers to perform general maintenance tasks such as but not limited to building repairs & maintenance, equipment repairs & maintenance, troubleshooting building systems at our Greenhouse operation in Leamington, ON.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Troubleshoot and complete routine repairs, general maintenance, and preventative maintenance, such as: installation and maintenance of machines and equipment, emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment as well as scheduled maintenance repairs as directed.
    • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and facilities as directed.
    • Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
    • Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
    • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions around the farm as required.
    • Use a variety of hand and power tools, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
    • Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report those and any unusual issues to supervisor.
    • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
    • Report to a facilities or maintenance manager for issues and repair plans.

    Requirements

    • Greenhouse maintenance experience an asset.
    • Millwright, tool & die and/or general farm maintenance experience are assets.
    • Welding experience an asset.
    • Experience using hand and electrical tools.
    • Able to work independently but also a good team player.
    • Able to read and understand work orders and other types of reports.
    • Able to read manuals and drawings an asset.
    • Basic math abilities required.
    • Able to analyze and reason problems and issues, attention to detail.
    • May be required to do some heavy lifting. It would be beneficial to be physically fit.
    • Safety Shoes.

    Job Details
    Bio Scouts are essential members of our greenhouse operations as they are responsible for the monitoring and care of crops through biological control of diseases or pests. They provide valuable information to the growers and managers to ensure the proper care and wellbeing of the crops and allow us to grow at the scale we do at Nature Fresh Farms.

    Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Inspection and monitoring of assigned sections of crops/plants for pests, biologicals, diseases or damage
    • Distinguishing between different species of pests or disease to ensure proper documentation of findings and reporting to the Growers/Management in a timely manner
    • Applying biologicals when necessary and implementing any plans that come up as a result of findings
    • Removal and disposal of damaged plants in the appropriate manner
    • Compliance with all Food Safety, Health & Safety and operational policies and procedures
    • Assisting with the annual crop cleanout

    Job Requirements:

    • Minimum of 1-year Bio Scout experience is required
    • Attention to detail is necessary
    • Ability to complete duties with minimal supervision and comfort working independently
    • Good communication skills both written and verbal are needed to work effectively with all levels of employees and management
    • Ability to work at heights and utilize a scissor cart

    Working Conditions

    • Climates within the greenhouses can vary from cold to very warm and can be humid at times
    • Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time; some bending, crouching, kneeling and working at heights may be required
    • Will have exposure to various pesticides and insects including bees
    • Must be available Monday-Friday and on occasion Saturday`s
    • Hours will fluctuate to reflect the ongoing needs of the business – average 40-55 hours be week

  • Greenhouse Construction/Project Crew

    We are currently looking for 8 Construction Workers for our new greenhouse builds. The ideal candidates should have greenhouse construction background, are hardworking and enjoy performing a variety of tasks within a team environment.

    Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Assisting with varied greenhouse and other construction projects
    • Installing internal irrigation systems, general plumbing
    • Using hand and power tools, common construction tools to cut, bend, connect and place various materials.
    • Lifting, carrying, and distributing construction materials (up to 50 lbs.)
    • Operating simple construction machinery, such as excavation bobcats
    • Operating aerial lifts and working at heights up to 10 m.
    • Assisting managers and follow instructions.
    • Basic maintenance on equipment, as needed.
    • Assisting with other duties as assigned

    Job Requirements:

    • Must be able to perform physical labour for extended periods of time.
    • Good fitness level with the ability to frequently lift 30-50lbs.
    • Ability to operate and/or maintain various light equipment and tools is a definite asset.
    • Good communication skills
    • Ability to work well in a team environment.
    • Must be dependable, punctual, and able to take and follow instructions.
    • Must have a Health and Safety mindset
    • Strong attention to detail

    Job Details

    The Operations Manager is responsible for Farm operations; overseeing each department from the Growers to production to administration; to ensure all departments are running as smoothly and efficiently and are working together to grow and deliver high quality produce that meets the expectations of our clients and consumers. This is a hands-on role requiring a positive leader who is not afraid of challenges, is good at problem-solving and will roll up their sleeves and handle anything thrown at them.

    Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Directly responsible for the greenhouse and warehouse operations, IPM program, Energy, Growers, Maintenance, Purchasing, Human Resources, IT, Finance and Administration.
    • Works with the Owner to establish short and long-term operational goals that fit within the overall operational objectives.
    • Provides leadership and fosters a work environment of positive energy, creativity, teamwork and collaboration between departments and employees.
    • Sets objectives for each department, communicates, coaches, and holds staff and supervisors accountable for achieving agreed objectives.
    • Establishes and ensures implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and technology.
    • Determines staffing requirements, screens, and hires suitable candidates.
    • Conducts regular meetings with management to review operational issues and set objectives.

    Job Requirements:

    • Post-secondary education in Management or Business is preferred
    • 5+ years of successful experience managing all aspects of a production facility, planning, budgeting, resource allocation, coordination of staffing and leadership management.
    • Must have a diverse knowledge of agriculture, greenhouse and warehouse operations, Finance, Purchasing, HR, Health & Safety, etc.
    • High degree of confidentiality and integrity required regarding all aspects of the business.
    • Ability to embrace challenges and use critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Delegation, negotiation, conflict management, stress tolerance, planning and organizing, time management and follow up skills are essential.

    Nature Fresh Farms is continuously looking to fill permanent fulltime positions for Supervisors at our greenhouse/packing operations in Leamington, ON.

    Job Overview

    Our Supervisors play a key role in completing day-to-day greenhouse vegetable operations to ensure the necessary produce is harvested and packaged to meet customer orders and standards. It is a Supervisor’s responsibility to ensure that employees apply proper plant maintenance for successful plant growth, picking and packing for quality production. Supervisors will often be assigned to specific areas that are most suited towards their skill set.

    Job responsibilities include; but are not limited to: 

    • Coaching employees and demonstrating proper plant maintenance processes such as pruning, twisting, de-leafing, picking, clipping, string tying etc. on an on-going basis
    • Planning, delegating, motivating the team well to improve performance and quality, while ensuring work is done efficiently, correctly and up to quality standards.
    • During crop turnover they are responsible for ensuring all cleanout tasks and start up tasks are completed including ensuring the greenhouse is cleaned and ready for planting
    • Monitoring plant conditions and reporting any concerns to the Growers.
    • Ensuring production lines are organized, prepared, cleaned and maintained and ensuring only quality products are packaged
    • Maintaining and completing pre-operational and post cleaning procedure checklists for production lines
    • Training, organizing and developing work schedules
    • Collaborating with the Growers to ensure proper allocation of staff and work
    • Aiding in pest monitoring and helping staff identify pest and disease problems
    • Ensuring all company health and safety and food compliance policies, procedures and standards are adhered to while upholding and monitoring quality control to ensure standards are met at all times
    • Maintaining confidentiality of all proprietary information, as well as other Company data, including personnel information
    • Monitoring and reporting maintenance needs to the Growers and Maintenance Department or preforming minor repairs in the greenhouse or warehouse, as needed.
    • Providing feedback, performance reviews and if necessary; apply progressive discipline processes for non-compliances, in a respectful manner
    • Completing required paperwork according to policies set out by NatureFresh

    Job Requirements

    • Supervisor experience within greenhouse operations is required
    • English is Required
    • Spanish is an Asset.

    Workplace Conditions

    • The greenhouse environment can be very hot, humid, moist, or cold for most of the year
