“I want to be able to take care of my parents and my family.”
Back in his home country of Guatemala, Elder P. had a few different jobs, including picking coffee beans, delivering coffee beans by truck, growing corn, and even working as a mechanic. In 2018, Elder decided to come to Canada and become a Guest Worker as part of Canada’s Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) Program. Elder has been a great addition to our General Labor team!
The main reason Elder decided to join Canada’s TFW Program was to help support his family back home: “I’ve been able to accomplish a lot here in Canada, so I want to help pay off any of our family’s debts and continue building a house for my family. I want to make sure my family is taken care of in Guatemala.”
On top of genuinely enjoying the work he does at Nature Fresh Farms, Elder also enjoys finding ways he can improve in his work: “I’m a good listener—if there’s something I need to improve on, I’ll make sure I do it! And I’m always observing so I can see how I can do better. If I’m doing my best, I’m motivated to do good every day.”
Making music is how Elder likes to spend his free time. Elder knows how to play the guitar, bass, violin, keyboard, and guitarron (the large guitar found in mariachi bands)!
As one of our General Laborers, Elder is responsible for completing a wide range of crop maintenance tasks to keep our plants growing strong. Elder works hard to give his best effort in everything he does at our farm. Elder is one of our #GrowToPeople!
