Making the move from India to Canada in 2018 was a rollercoaster ride for Gurkanwal S., but he is happy to have found a role with our team! Although he acquired his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in India, he was only able to work odd jobs when he first moved to Canada. But in the summer of 2020, Gurkanwal joined our team and soon after became one of our Financial Analysts!

His interest in learning about and working with new technology has made the Financial Analyst role a perfect fit for Gurkanwal: “When I got the opportunity to work as a Financial Analyst, I knew it was my calling because I get to use and learn different tech tools like our ERP software. Accuracy and persistence also come in handy when you are dealing with numbers all day.”

The inclusive, family-oriented culture is what Gurkanwal loves the most about our company: “Nature Fresh Farms is like family to me. I love the work culture here and everyone is very friendly. Despite the hard times we faced in 2020, I loved how our company came together as a family and worked together to rise above all the obstacles in our way.”

Whenever he has some free time, Gurkanwal’s first thought is to call his mom to check in. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, staying up to date on world issues, going on long walks, and listening to Punjabi music!

Gurkanwal’s main responsibilities as a Financial Analyst include ensuring Accounts Payable transactions are completed accurately and in a timely manner, extracting data from our ERP system to present to our management team, and supporting other finance processes to regulate company expenses and help increase productivity.
