“By 2050, the world’s population will be at 9 billion people—we need to do more so we can feed the world.”
In Trust K.’s home country of Zimbabwe, many people rely on agriculture for their livelihoods, so Trust is very familiar with the farming sector. Trust decided to pursue a career in agriculture after he interned with the United Nations and learned more about the world’s food systems. He completed his Master’s degree in Plant Agriculture at the University of Guelph, and not long after, Trust joined our team!
With much of his schooling focused on entomology, Trust’s work with our Integrated Pest Management (IPM) team has allowed him to use a wide variety of skills: “A lot of my work here involves research, which means I need to be adaptable and learn quickly because research methods and technology are everchanging. I also need to use my scientific writing and data analysis skills to help with developing new IPM strategies.”
The Nature Fresh Farms team means a lot to Trust: “Nature Fresh Farms is beyond just a workplace: it’s a place that brings people together, so they feel like a family. I also really like how much diversity there is at this company.”
Trust has many hobbies and interests. When he’s not at work, he enjoys completing photography and videography projects, reading, being in nature, and writing poetry. Trust also enjoys supporting the International Rotary Club and different humanitarian projects around the globe.
The main focus of Trust’s work with our team is to conduct research on the good bugs we use in our greenhouses to control pest populations. This research is essential to help us develop better strategies for our IPM program. Trust is one of our #GrowToPeople!
