You call it a job, I call it a lifestyle.
When I wake up in the morning I’m not on my way to what most might call “another day in the office”. Being a Greenhouse Education Center Member is on a different level as to what classifies the average 9 to 5 work week. It’s an opportunity to make an impact. An impact on others and on myself. It has been an unforgettable life experience. Long drives, new states, early mornings, late nights, new friendships, acquired knowledge, insane city tours, and the list goes on and on! As we slowly approach August I know this adventure won’t last forever. In the back of my mind I know I will be returning to finish my Business Marketing Administration course in September. When it’s all said and done, I will be able to look back with the agricultural knowledge and perspective that I have acquired and really grow from the lifestyle I have adjusted to. It will help me grow and prosper almost as effectively as NatureFresh™ Farms unbeatable produce! (#ProducePun). In all seriousness, I have come a long way since my first day on the job, and I’ve seen a lot of amazing sites along the way.
The skills I have gained are absolutely critical to my marketing background. One of the skills being: communication. I have always been a great communicator, but being on the GEC has brought me to the next level on getting the message from point A to B. I am talking to new people every day who are eager to know more about NatureFresh™ Farms and agriculture. I have grown into a credible source and I have the opportunity to leave the customers with something new every day #KnowledgeIsBeautiful. This lifestyle I have jumped into has allowed me to push the limits of my comfort zone and create something great. I love waking up to live my life every morning as a proud NatureFresh™ Farms team member. I have nothing but amazing things to say about this company anytime someone asks the classic question “how’s your summer job been?”. As you could have guessed I simply respond it’s not a JOB it’s a LIFESTYLE, and it’s been nothing but a magnificent experience.
The next skill brought to life is perseverance. Not every day can be a happily ever after, that not how life works. Some days it rains and we are forced to close for the day. Other days we may not meet our goal of how many people we desired to impact. But the days that we hit the goals, we HIT HARD. We make the most of every guest, relationship, and experience we capture that day. We know there’s no time like the present! When things are going our way and we see an opportunity, we build on the momentum and pounce on all opportunities in our way; every time – #WePerservere. This lifestyle has taught me a lot, that’s for certain. One thing that I have learned is that people react well when they see that you truly believe in what you are doing. I have no problem saying I believe in NatureFresh™ Farms. They are putting fresh, consistently grown, and extremely nutritious food into family’s mouths across the continent. I don’t need to hit the snooze button every morning because I wake up and know I am doing the right thing providing people with more knowledge about quality produce and how it is grown with care. I have adapted this mindset that I am doing the right thing every step along this journey. Call me crazy, but I am truly a produce junkie. I eat, sleep, breathe and believe produce. When I eat, it’s TOMZ. When I sleep, I’m thinking about breakfast. When I breath, I am breathing in the smell of a sweet bell pepper (PS one yellow bell pepper has 3 times the vitamin C then an orange #WINNING). I said it once and I’ll say it again: I am a produce prodigy. When I started off this journey I proudly admit I was #TheRookie, but now I am on my way to the intermediate level.
One day I am confident I will possess a Veteran status. I will indeed show veteran qualities and have a great deal of potential in this industry. At NatureFresh™ we take produce to the next level, and regardless of your place on the produce ladder, you have a role to play. We are not all created equal but that’s what makes this team dominate. We are as diverse as any team I have ever witnessed. In September, I will be talking a few short steps away from my team, but I am sure they will see me again one day – stronger and more of an asset to contribute to the ongoing greatness of NatureFresh™ Farms.
