This week the Greenhouse Education Center made a pit stop at the #Indy500 where we paired up with the Produce Mom to bring #GreenToTheCity to local school. Indy kids grade 1-6 could #learnHowWeGrow. I remember in grade school learning about photosynthesis and plants and pollinating. It was out of a textbook where we saw a few photos of the process. It’s hard to get excited about that! However, imagine a 38 foot greenhouse on wheels at your school where you could see an exact snapshot of how #NatureFreshFarms grows #GreenBellPeppers, #OrangeBellPeppers, #YellowBellPeppers, #RedBellPeppers, #seedlessCucumbers, #TomatoesOnTheVine and #RedCherryTomatoes. It was fun sharing #HowWeGrow with students who were learning about pollination, plants, and where their food comes from.
The most engaging part for students is always how NatureFresh™ Farms pollinates with bumblebees. Our live bumblebee ecosystem is sure to catch your attention. With 2.4 million flowers that need pollinating, we need over 135,000 bees to pollinate our peppers and tomatoes.
Over the weekend we had the opportunity to meet the great people of Indianapolis at Kroger Marketplace locations. I loved meeting everyone, they were interested in learning about how we grow, and buying #local #Greenhouse grown produce. The most rewarding part of the week was talking with gardeners who grow tomatoes and hearing them compare NatureFresh™ Quality and flavor to their garden fruits.
