    Job Description

    The Packaging Development Specialist will be responsible for all aspects of new packaging development. Researching with new and existing suppliers to develop unique and sustainable packaging that will lead towards innovative concepts and designs that differentiates Nature Fresh Farms from the competitive market. Providing direct support to our Sales and Procurement team in new or existing packaging options, costs, and the timeline for development. Overseeing and coordinating new product launch by working with our marketing support teams. Initiate and coordinate all activity with NFF creative teams, Quality Control, Food Safety, through the assigned packaging support committee. Working closely with packaging suppliers to develop custom high-end packaging solutions that not only look premium but also meet internal sustainability standards and ensure safe delivery of our products to customers. The position reports directly to the VP Marketing & Category Development.

    Health and Safety

    Food Safety

    Job Specific Duties

    • Along with the Product Development Manager, coordinates the packaging portion of the product development process from beginning to end including sourcing, trial and development, and sample production.
    • Works seamlessly with the Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Logistics, and Purchasing teams to meet, translate and evaluate the consumer needs into packaging of the highest quality.
    • Coordinates with Sales, Marketing, and third-party companies to meet creative label and packaging requirements to fulfill retailer contracts.
    • Provides the necessary item information to Sales and Marketing by reviewing current active and inactive items for comparable pack size, dimensions.
    • Generates new product form request and obtains all pertinent product specifications from sales/marketing operations for item descriptions, ingredients, ratios, dimensions, volume estimate, and pack size.
    • Research new raw material and packaging requirements when developing new products.
    • Requests samples as required and coordinates with the Purchasing department to obtain the necessary packaging.
    • Coordinates timely completion of new project development requests.
    • Completes documentation for new products to generate samples for approval.
    • Arranges sample requests for new products and coordinates the delivery of samples to customers.
    • Coordinates shelf-life studies on new packaging/products.
    • Creates specification sheets for new packaging.
    • Provides status updates to stakeholders to ensure new packaging will meet launch dates.
    • Coordinates new item listings with UPC and other relevant data.
    • Communicates new item set up internally and externally and arranges for dry runs to inspect/review for errors.
    • Present for all first run new item launches to ensure all aspect of quality and packaging requirements are met as set out in product specifications.
    • Visit all local facilities to assess supplier and operations performance.
    • Schedule visits to Delta to ensure we are consistent with all packaging and overall quality control.
    • Responds to internal and external inquiries and problem solves as it relates to packaging requirements.
    • Supports Senior Management with the information needed to create the company’s purchasing strategy and budget.
    • Attend a minimum of one approved industry trade show events to gain knowledge with trends and new packaging innovations.
    • Open to exploring additional training and education, industry related to further personal development.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • 3+ years working in packaging or product coordination experience.
    • Previous experience working in greenhouse produce or the food manufacturing industry are definite assets.
    • Ability to maintain respectful relationships at all levels within and outside the organization.
    • Very high degree of confidentiality and integrity required regarding all aspects of the business.
    • Strong customer service orientation with ability to handle customer service situations calmly and professionally.
    • Ability to be flexible and quickly re-prioritize and react positively with short notice of changes.
    • Ability to work competently with exceptional accuracy in a fast-paced and highly dynamic environment that is challenging and constantly evolving.
    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills; proven ability to successfully manage tasks and projects independently; strong planning and problem-solving skills.
    • High level of proficiency with Office software packages, including Word and Excel.
    • Exceptional communication skills, reading, writing, listening and oral communication.
    • A valid driver’s license and use of personal vehicle are required.
    • A valid passport and ability to travel locally and internationally are required.

    The Senior Shipping/Receiving Manager’s focus is strategic as they facilitate personnel management, operational management, and interdepartmental communication.     Job Specific Duties

    • Plan and implement overall Shipping/Receiving strategies by studying processes, procedures, reports, SOPs, and other records to determine and develop priorities, work assignments and shipping methods.
    • Ensure company culture is closely monitored and maintained.
    • Uses ERP, WMS & TMS to organize and prioritize shipping activities and to view and build reports/analytics.
    • Oversees and monitors the status of the storage coolers, to ensure that product is properly stored and rotated.
    • Closely monitor the productivity levels of cases shipped and efficiency of staff in order to ensure goals/targets are reached.
    • Champion and implement solutions for process optimization and present to senior management.
    • Control and monitor the department’s yearly budget.
    • Build and maintain professional relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
    • Works closely with other departmental managers to identify any issues in the workflow and correct them to using root cause analysis and SOPs ensure maximum productivity.
    • Monitor and report KPIs and other reporting for upper management as needed.
    • Identify shipping/receiving issues and implement solutions in a timely manner.
    • Quarterly in-depth review of Shipping/Receiving operations to determine overall levels of efficiency, operational trends, health & safety, employee morale/retention and present findings and recommendations to department heads and upper management.
    • Create, modify, and implement safety and security protocols as needed for shipping/receiving staff, including performing after-action reviews following any incidents.
    • Keeping a pulse on labour needs based on operational trends, work loads and strategic planning through labour forecasting for all positions within the department including forklift drivers, clerks, truck drivers and supervisors.
    • Communication with Logistics, Commodity Managers, Procurement, and Sales when issues arise.
    • Working with the team and other department managers to develop new procedures and implement them successfully. Collaborate with members to continuously improve day to day tasks.
    • Ensure equipment is properly maintained and serviced. Monitor and adhere to budgets for truck and trailer, forklift, and pallet jack repairs.
    • Assist the Warehouse Operations Manager on various assignments and projects related to the department that may arise.
    • Other duties as assigned.

     

    Qualifications

    • Must have previous experience in Shipping/Receiving/Warehousing with supervisory experience management a team.
    • Post-secondary experience in Management, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Business is preferred but not a requirement.
    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including good Excel skills.
    • Very high degree of confidentiality and integrity required regarding all aspect of the business and employee matters.
    • Ability to gain trust and maintain respectful relationships with employees at all levels and across all departments is critical.
    • Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve complex problems with limited information and changing conditions.

  • DC Materials Clerk

    Job Category: Warehouse

    Location: Leamington, ON

    Job Description

    The Materials Clerk is responsible to assist the Dry Goods Supervisor with all aspects of dry goods inventory required for the Warehouse Production. It is their responsibility to inspect, organize, monitor inventory, and store these items in their proper location within the Dry Goods Department.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Forklift operation and material handling.
    • Inspection of all inbound products for damage and defects and report to the Dry Goods Supervisor.
    • Conduct physical inventory counts of goods and ensure accuracy with NAV/WMS system.
    • Updating and maintain all necessary paperwork in an effective timely manner.
    • Ensuring equipment maintenance is maintained and all safety measures and requirements are met.
    • Ensuring department housekeeping is maintained.
    • Maintain strong communication with the Dry Goods Supervisor to ensure the department needs are met.
    • Working closely with the Production lines to ensure proper products are sourced in a timely manner.
    • Receive and unload incoming products when required.

    Job Requirements

    • 2+ years of forklift experience.
    • Knowledge and experience with computer systems.
    • Excellent communication abilities, active listening skills and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment, some independent work.
    • Ability to work in a fast environment by multitasking and prioritizing work while being attentive to details and quality.

  • Gatekeeper

    Job Category: Warehouse

    Location: Leamington, ON

    Job Details

    The Gatekeeper is an essential part of the Distribution Center team – they are responsible for the tracking and proper tagging of all products that make their way through the production area. The Gatekeeper is also responsible for properly distributing all pack and box labels. If a Gatekeeper ensures that all Nature Fresh Farms products are tracked and labeled properly, our products make it to the consumer that much more quickly and efficiently!

    Job Responsibilities

    • Ensure that all boxes are counted and/or weighed and that all pallets are tagged as they enter and leave the Production department.
    • Understand the request of each customer and make all box labels and packaging stickers for all orders.
    • Quickly identify and resolve all tag issues.
    • Convert weight units, calculate consumption for each order, and check for errors independently.
    • Using ERP and WMS systems, post the consumption of each order, output new produce, and give output products new tags.
    • Monitor #2 products and dumped products on each line to ensure that they are properly isolated, counted/weighed and reported for each supplier, post them into ERP system.
    • Confirm the count on leftover produce and tag all pallets before they leave their respective lines.
    • Supervise production line packaging and ensure that the correct produce and dry goods are used on each order.
    • Ensure ongoing communication with Line Leads, Forklift driver and Production Supervisor.

    Job Responsibilities

    Technical Requirements:

    Demonstrated experience and knowledge in the following areas:

    • Maintaining current backup and data replication infrastructure.
    • Administering and supporting Windows Server 2012 R2 and beyond.

    Job Requirements:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required

    • 3+ years equivalent work experience in a network support role
    • 3+ years equivalent work experience in a Help Desk technical role.
    • Relevant work experience in supporting a greenhouse production environment is a definite asset.

    • Setup and configure access to shared printers, multifunction devices and packing line printers.
    • Perform fixes to desktops and laptops including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware peripherals, and configuring systems and applications.
    • Install and configure IP cameras.
    • Complete IT internal and end user documentation
    • Provide after-hours support during scheduled on-call rotations escalating issues the team as required.
    • Provide excellent customer service and support to non-technical users.
    • Additional duties as assigned.

     

    Job Requirements:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required
    • Degree or certificate from a program in Network Administration and Support, Information Systems or a related field is preferred.

    • Relevant work experience in a technical field is an asset
    • Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills – fluent in written and oral English
    • Spanish proficiency is an asset.

  • Senior Quality Manager

    Job Details

    Reporting to the Director of Quality, the Senior Quality Manager is responsible for managing the quality administration and research and development team. The goal is to help preserve and enhance our reputation by ensuring that our products and services are in line to help drive sustainable growth. They will collaborate with other departments throughout the Company to collect and present data based on customer satisfaction rates and continuous improvement strategies.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Ensure the success and management of the Quality Administration and Research and Development Team by coaching on how to improve their productivity, training, and overall performance.
    • Oversee the sample creation and shipping process for customer samples.
    • Manage and review quality and shelf-life studies.
    • Use Power BI reporting methods to compile and analyze statistical data.
    • Assist the Director in the preparation and management of long-term planning, budgets, and reports.
    • Monitor KPI’s for each department and escalate action plans when KPIs are not being met.
    • Complete root cause analysis of customer complaints.
    • Implement corrective action plans and ensure smooth process transition as needed with the quality control management team.
    • Assist in implementing effective quality control processes.
    • Ensure that all products delivered by suppliers meet the quality requirements in close collaboration with the procurement team.
    • Remain current with new regulations, standards, and customer requirements.
    • Assist vendors and internal departments with troubleshooting issues with PTI labels, UPC barcodes and label files.
    • Timely communication of quality issues to local and upper management as they arise.
    • Ensure adherence to company health and safety guidelines.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements

    • Minimum of 2 years of produce experience is a requirement.
    • Label View, Clarisoft, Microsoft NAV experience is considered an asset.
    • Knowledge of all commodities and potential defects to ensure the shipment of product meets the customer specifications.
    • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel.
    • Exceptional communication abilities, active listening and written communication skills.
    • Displays strong initiative and able to work independently with little direction, within a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong analytic, problem identification and problem resolution skills.
    • Very high degree of confidentiality and integrity required regarding all aspects of the business.
    • A valid driver’s license and use of personal vehicle are required.

    Workplace Conditions

    • Mainly office setting with some warehouse/greenhouse as needed - balance between sitting, standing, and walking throughout the day.
    • Working with minimal supervision during the day, but also communicating with different individuals and teams across our facilities and from external organizations.
    • There may be an occasional need for some heavy lifting (when needed).
    • Some travel between local Nature Fresh facilities may be required.
    • Must be available Monday to Friday with extended hours including weekends, after hours, and holidays as needed.

  • Account Payables Clerk

    Job Details

    The Accounts Payable Clerk supports the Finance Department by ensuring that all invoices are received, posted and are paid out in a timely fashion. Additionally, the Accounts Payable Clerk will have general ad hoc duties that will ensure the smooth running of the Finance department.

    Job Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

    • Processing, verifying, and posting vendor invoices
    • Ensuring invoices are posted in the appropriate General Ledger account
    • Assisting vendors with queries on accounts
    • Ensuring credits get issued when necessary
    • Reconciling vendor Accounts Payable accounts
    • Assist with annual audits
    • Ensuring payments are prepared, balanced and completed according to vendors’ payment terms
    • Working with the Purchasing department to ensure packing slips are received when necessary
    • Additional duties as assigned

    Job Requirements:

    • Must have in-depth accounting skills with a solid understanding of General Ledger costing
      • Previous experience working in a computerized accounting environment is required
      • Accounts Payable experience is preferred
    • Must have good common sense and an open mind
    • Must have strong problem solving skills and the ability to work with strict deadlines
    • Must enjoy working with numbers and have strong attention to detail
      • Must be a team player who is open to working with team members and across departments
      • Experience using Microsoft Navision is considered an asset
      • Diploma or degree in accounting is considered an asset
