    Job Details

    Our Greenhouse Operations Leads play a key role in completing day-to-day greenhouse vegetable operations to ensure the necessary produce is harvested and packaged to meet customer orders and standards.  It is a Greenhouse Operations Leads responsibility to ensure that employees apply proper plant maintenance for successful plant growth, picking, and pack for quality production. Leads will be assigned to areas that are most suited towards their skill set.

    Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Coaching employees and demonstrating proper plant maintenance processes such as pruning, twisting, de-leafing, picking, clipping, string tying etc. on an on-going basis.
    • During crop turnover are responsible for ensuring all cleanout tasks and start up tasks are completed including ensuring the greenhouse is cleaned and ready for planting.
    • Monitoring plant conditions such as pest, diseases and maintenance issues and reporting any concerns.
    • Ensuring production lines are organized, prepared, cleaned, and maintained to Health and Safety standards and ensuring only quality products are packaged.
    • Overseeing the packing lines to ensure they are running efficiently; quickly troubleshooting issues to keep the lines moving.
    • Overseeing the inventory of packaging materials and re-ordering as required.
    • Reviewing daily work orders and ensuring packs are completed according to pack instructions and customer specifications.
    • Maintaining and completing pre-operational and post cleaning procedure checklists for production lines.
    • Planning, delegating, motivating and lead the team well to improve performance and quality, while ensuring work is done efficiently, correctly, and up to quality standards.
    • Training, organizing, and developing work schedules.
    • Ensuring all company health and safety and food compliance policies, procedures and standards are adhered to while upholding and monitoring quality control to ensure standards are always met.
    • Maintaining confidentiality of all proprietary information, as well as other Company data, including personnel information.
    • Providing feedback, performance reviews and if necessary, apply progressive discipline processes for non-compliances, in a respectful manner.
    • Completing required paperwork according to policies set out by Nature Fresh.
    • Troubleshoot and complete routine repairs, general maintenance, and preventative maintenance on smaller machines and equipment.
    • Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities, as directed.
    • Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report those and any unusual issues to the Maintenance Supervisor.
    • Use a variety of hand and power tools, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
    • Completes crop registrations and documents variety trials for different commodities.
    • Prepares and sends reports on varieties and quality on a weekly basis.
    • Harvest trials and weigh picked fruit and enter the data into an Excel spreadsheet as required.
    • Conduct shelf-life, sugar and acid testing of fruit.
    • Inspect the fruit’s shape, colour, firmness, aging, cracking etc. and document as required.
    • Additional duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements:

    • Ability to communicate effectively in English & Spanish is an asset.
    • Greenhouse Operations experience considered an asset.
    • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and to motivate a group of people.
    • Documentation, attention to detail, time management skills required.
    • Basic mathematical skills required.

    Workplace Conditions:

    • The greenhouse environment can be very hot, humid, moist, or cold for most of the year.
    • The greenhouse environment may have bees, bugs, and pests.
    • Working with a team of people from different cultural backgrounds.
    • Hours will fluctuate to reflect ongoing needs of the business, 40-60 hours per week average.
    • Available to work weekends and holidays.

    Physical Requirements:

    We are currently looking to fill permanent a full-time position for a Warehouse Manager for our Farms operations in our Leamington, ON location.

    Job Details

    The Warehouse Manager oversees all aspects of warehouse operations across all production phases. Ensuring food safety, health and safety, product allocation, quality, shipping, labour scheduling and training/coaching requirements are met. They ensure the warehouse team’s success by creating an engaging work environment, improving productivity, efficiency, and overall performance of their teams. Working directly with all other Nature Fresh departments to ensure production and quality goals are met.

    Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Responsible for all production warehouses for Nature Fresh in Leamington. Focusing on strategic operational planning, volume forecasting, labour scheduling, expansions, new projects, equipment acquisitions, etc.
    • Prepares a weekly coverage schedule for their team and themselves. Travels to all production phases daily to monitor production, quality, staffing and follows up with supervisors to address any concerns, provide direction and updates etc.
    • Works closely with their team, ensures they receive the training and coaching required to develop strong leaders within their respective departments.
    • Approve/deny employee time off, expense reports and timecards within deadlines required to ensure smooth completion of payroll.
    • Manage employee time off/schedules to ensure full coverage of the departments.
    • Ensures the warehouse is effectively supervised and staffed with competent and trained employees, knowledgeable of all production practices, including food safety and health and safety procedures and policies.
    • Overseeing and working closely with the Allocation team to ensure timely and effective scheduling of order requirements.
    • Overseeing and working closely with the Farm Dry Goods Coordinator to ensure inventory levels are maintained as needed.
    • Overseeing and working closely with the Shipping and Quality Supervisor to ensure product is held to acceptable standards as per specification requirements, ensuring product is shipped on time and quantities are correct.
    • Developing and implementing strategies to optimize warehouse operations, reduce costs, and improve productivity.
    • Tracking key performance indicators and developing reports to analyze operational performance, utilizing the resources given to them, such as QC One, Priva, and Business Central.
    • Develops business cases for senior management for the purchase of new equipment or modification of current equipment, to increase productivity.
    • Manages the annual performance review process for all warehouse employees and collaborates with his leadership team to deliver the performance reviews.
    • Participates in the hiring of all staff including participating in interviews and selection of final candidates.
    • Manages the progressive discipline process. Works with HR to issue verbal and written warnings as necessary. Coaching for improvement is essential to improve quality and behavioural deficiencies.
    • If required, conducts termination with employees alongside the HR Manager
    • Coordinating and communicating with other departments to ensure seamless continuity between production, sales, logistics, as well as maintenance, purchasing, finance etc.
    • Places work orders as needed and communicates with the Maintenance team as necessary.
    • Attends weekly management meetings and schedules and runs supervisor update meetings.
    • Assessing warehouse labour requirements based on business needs, taking into consideration greenhouse productivity and seasonal productivity. This may also include moving employees from one warehouse location to another warehouse.
    • Additional duties as assigned by the company.

    Job Requirements:

    • 3 to 5 years experience as a manager, working in a warehouse or greenhouse managing staff, operations, etc.
    • Demonstrated ability to coach, motivate, encourage, and lead teams; passion for building an engaged culture.
    • Must have a strong commitment to quality and ability to provide good customer service.
    • Excellent attention to detail, ability to follow directions and problem-solving to identify and resolve discrepancies.
    • Must always maintain a professional and positive attitude.

    • Travel from phase to phase is required – extended periods walking and standing.
    • The Warehouse Manager works an average of 55 hours per week Monday – Saturday. Hours fluctuate based on business needs; you may be required to work after hours.

    Job Details

    As part of the Farm Operations team, the Data Reporting Administrator collects, analyzes, maintains, and reports data in a manner that provides visibility and better decision-making capabilities for the management team across all Farm sites. Additionally, they play an integral role in the preparation, implementation and administration of Taste Panels conducted by the Farm.

    As a member of the Logistics Team, the Inbound Logistics Coordinator is a highly motivated individual who facilitates front-line communications with customers, carriers, brokers, the Sales and Shipping departments.     Job Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

    • Coordinate movement of cross border and domestic inbound shipments and transfers (US/CAN, US/US & MX/US).
    • Act as a liaison between distribution facilities, Sales department, other members of the supply chain and carriers/brokers.
    • Negotiate rates with approved carriers/brokers, while securing excellent service for the best price.
    • Consolidate shipments to ensure load capacity is met.
    • Manage, track, and trace freight updates in the company TMS system.

  • Operational Grower – Strawberries

    We are currently looking to fill permanent full-time position for an Operational Grower - Strawberries at our Leamington, ON location.

    Job Details

    The Operational Grower oversees all growing strategies and plant health of our Strawberry crop. Their primary responsibility is to identify optimal growing strategies for high yield, high quality, high tasting product. They oversee climate control, fertilization, irrigation, grow lights and biocontrol programs.

    Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Manage climate, irrigation, and grow light controls via computer, adjust as necessary due to weather/season/stage of the strawberry crop.
    • Inspect all greenhouse areas on a continuous daily basis; the status of the plant health, possible challenges/issues.
    • Make observations and analysis on the strawberry crop regarding pruning, de-leafing and picking to determine next strategies. Coordinate labour requirements with the Operations Manager and Supervisors.
    • Submit water samples to the lab, interpreting results and adjusting fertilizer recipes accordingly.
    • Maintain plant registrations, prepare reports and analysis. Keep up-to date crop layout maps of the greenhouse.
    • Responsible for IPM program, creating solutions for proactive prevention of pests/diseases. Work closely with the Biocontrol Supervisor.
    • Oversee the use of pesticides or chemicals if required and ensure proper protocols are followed.
    • Oversee fertilizer room cleanliness, organization, checking levels of tanks and security of area.
    • Oversee cleaning and sanitization of all chemical application equipment.
    • Keep records of the day-to-day operations, analyze graphs, and make changes if needed for current day.
    • Reviewing the strawberry crop on a weekly basis with our consultant to enhance growing techniques and procedures.
    • Responsible for washing and sterilizing the greenhouses at the end of each crop season.
    • Manage the planting schedules and ensure the greenhouse is ready for planting.
    • Lead, coach, and counsel the Junior Grower/Grower Assistant and Biological Team, including developing action plans.
    • Conduct annual performance reviews and reporting of department expectations, goals, and objectives.
    • Stay actively involved in employee hands on training and follow-up to ensure all work is done efficiently and correctly. Training and development are required on an on-going basis.

    Qualifications

    • 3+ years of growing experience in strawberries required.

    Job Details

    The Junior Grower will be learning and supporting the Growers with all growing aspects; growing high crop production yields and good quality vegetables.

    Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Inspect the crop daily to check the status of the plant health, possible challenges/issues.
    • Look for and learn crop behavior, vegetative and generative growth, nutrient deficiencies.
    • Make observations and analysis from the crop regarding pruning, leafing, and picking to determine next strategies

    • Scouting for pests and disease and collaborating with the Biological Department.
    • Applying pesticide treatments as necessary.
    • Responsible for washing and sterilizing the greenhouses at the end of each crop season.
    • Help with planting and ensure the greenhouse is ready for planting.
    • Rotate On Call schedules for afterhours and weekends.
    • Operate the roof washer to brush/clean and apply shade to the roof.
    • Bioreactor duties:
      • Monitor Bioreactor levels and temperatures
      • Mix Fertilizers for Bioreactor
      • Collect samples from Bioreactor weekly and send out testing
      • Read and interpret data on samples for proper nutrient levels
      • Remove sludge from the Bioreactor throughout the week

    Job Requirements:

    • A diploma in botany, horticulture or agriculture is an asset but not a requirement

    Job Details

    Bio Scouts are essential members of our greenhouse operations as they are responsible for the monitoring and care of crops through biological control of diseases or pests.  They provide valuable information to the growers and managers to ensure the proper care and wellbeing of the crops and allow us to grow at the scale we do at Nature Fresh Farms.

    Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Inspection and monitoring of assigned sections of crops/plants for pests, biologicals, diseases, or damage.
    • Distinguishing between different species of pests or disease to ensure proper documentation of findings and reporting to the Growers/Management in a timely manner.

    • Applying biologicals when necessary and implementing any plans that come up because of findings.
    • Removal and disposal of damaged plants in the appropriate manner.
    • Compliance with all Food Safety, Health & Safety and operational policies and procedures.
    • Assisting with the annual crop cleanout.
    • Additional duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements:

    • Minimum of 1-year Bio Scout experience is required.
    • Attention to detail is necessary.
    • Ability to complete duties with minimal supervision and comfort working independently.
    • Good communications skills both written and verbal are needed to work effectively with all levels of employees and management.
    • Ability to work at heights and utilize a scissor cart.

    Working Conditions:

    • Climates within the greenhouses can vary from cold to very warm and can be humid at times.
    • Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time; some bending, crouching, kneeling, and working at heights may be required.
    • Will have exposure to various pesticides and insects including bees.
    • Must be available Monday-Friday and on occasion Saturday’s.
    • Hours will fluctuate to reflect the ongoing needs of the business – average 40-55 hours per week.

    Job Description

    Reporting to the Director, Sales, the Key Account Manager will be responsible for acquiring several job specific duties (as outline below), including, and not limited to expanding and maintaining a designated portfolio of sales accounts. This role involves increasing company revenue and profit by generating sales from new and existing customers. They will also work with sales channels to raise awareness of Company offerings and initiate new business ventures to increase market share and meet fiscal goals.

    Health and Safety

    Job Specific Duties

    • Building, developing, and maintaining a portfolio of accounts with a primary focus on growing the Nature Fresh Farms brand to achieve long-term success through personalized KPIs that will be created, reviewed, and updated regularly.
    • Negotiating contract terms of agreement and pricing.
    • Growing top and bottom-line sales & profit and developing new business within defined objectives and parameters.
    • Creating and developing positive relationships with current and new retail/club store customers.
    • Responsible for resolving major conflicts that will affect future growth of the account and providing solutions to customers in a timely manner.
    • Ensuring that admin maintains a clear communication regarding client needs with internal departments such as Marketing, Logistics, Warehouse, Procurement, Farm, Suppliers and Management.
    • Reviewing account reports sent by Sales Administrators on an ongoing basis and evaluating outcomes with retail partners.
    • Collaborating with other departments to ensure business goals are understood and met.
    • Setting and tracking sales accounts targets/budgets with the Director, Sales, and Account Administrators.
    • Working alongside marketing department to develop reports and presentations for meetings.
    • Analyzing data and reports (internally and 3rd party) to anticipate trends, demand levels and cater new product offerings to key partners.
    • Actively contributing towards a variety of projects, trade shows, workshops, and other Sales team initiatives.
    • Attending trade shows, work shops and exhibitions in an engaging and outgoing level to stay up to date with industry trends.
    • Setting up meetings annually with retailer partners to go over yearly reviews and discuss new opportunities for the year ahead.
    • Staying in tune with your customers needs and understanding the competitive landscape which includes regular store visits as well as utilizing 3rd party support such as Field Agent and other merchandising support.
    • Supporting Sales Administrator when they are unavailable to communicate to internal teams or retail partners.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • 2-3 years of sales account management experience required.
    • Experience at successfully selling multiple product/service lines with a demonstrated ability to close sales transactions.
    • Previous experience working in greenhouse, produce or the food manufacturing industry are definite assets.
    • Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with customers, key business partners, and other stakeholders through timely delivery, follow-up, initiative, and communication.
    • Very high degree of confidentiality and integrity required regarding all aspects of the business.
    • Exceptional communication abilities, active listening skills and written communication skills.
    • Skilled at assessing client needs, developing proposals, and delivering solutions.
    • Excellent negotiation and diplomacy skills, with a high degree of tact and persuasiveness.
    • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
    • Displays strong initiative and able to work independently with little direction, within a fast-paced environment.
    • High level of proficiency with Microsoft office software packages, including Excel skills.
    • Valid license and passport with the ability to travel to the U.S. or internationally as required.

    Working Conditions

    • Most of the day is spent in an office environment.
    • Works with a diverse group of people.
    • Works Monday-Friday, with occasional Saturdays and holidays as required. Hours may fluctuate according to business needs. May be required to work after hours as needed.
    • Travels to customer locations as required.

    Physical Requirements

    This role is mostly spent working in an office environment or travelling to customer locations.
