“It’s exciting to see where we came from, where we are, and where we want to be in the future.”

The greenhouse industry has been a part of Herman F.’s life for as long as he can remember. Herman started at Nature Fresh Farms as a General Laborer in 2007 – it was his first full-time job outside of the family farm. Herman then became an Assistant Grower, and about 5 years ago, he became one of our Head Growers!

Growing plants has intrigued Herman from a young age: “My family had a home garden and small greenhouse and I always thought that was exciting. But when I started working full-time in the greenhouse industry, I was surprised by how many people didn’t know about how their food is grown – that encouraged me to get into this line of work even more!”

The team dynamic at Nature Fresh Farms has encouraged Herman to develop strong relationships with his team members: “The people I work with are like my family. I’m open with my team and it isn’t always work talk happening between us – I like to get to know the people I see every day and develop relationships with them.”

Although he works inside a greenhouse all day, Herman loves spending time outdoors! He will be spending the summer riding his ATV, camping, and playing sports with friends in local leagues.

This season, Herman is responsible for managing 66 acres of Sweet Pepper plants – he ensures everything from the irrigation schedule to temperature settings to CO2 distribution are perfect for our plants. Herman is one of our #GrowToPeople!
