Celebrating US National Agriculture Day

The Importance of Agriculture in America

The role that agriculture plays in America is nothing short of extraordinary. From growing fruits and vegetables to raising livestock, American farmers have dedicated millions of acres of land across the country to producing food to feed our communities.

Farming has been around for centuries, and while parts of the practice have evolved with the adoption of exciting new technologies and tools, many of the basic principles and values of farming have remained the same. At our farm in Ohio, we care deeply about growing high-quality, flavorful Tomatoes in an efficient and sustainable way, but we also believe in fostering a culture of teamwork. After all, you can’t spell agriculture without culture!

Speaking of culture: we have an incredibly diverse team working at our Delta, OH facilities! From some team members who grew up in farming families, to others who had never stepped foot on a farm before joining our ranks, the different experiences that our Grow-To People bring to their roles allow us to work, learn, and grow together in unique ways.

For this year’s US National Agriculture Week, we asked 5 members of our team in Ohio to share what US agriculture means to them!

What Does US Agriculture Mean to You?

Here’s what our Ohio team members had to say about what US agriculture means to them.

Kevin B., Allocation

“Growing up with a garden, dinner always tasted the best when it was made with Mom’s hands (of course) and when we used fresh veggies from the garden we worked on every day in the summer.  When we grow it ourselves, whether in our backyard, locally, regionally, or on the other coast, there is a pride behind it that is unmatched. US agriculture is pride in taking care of our own.”

Daniela T., Greenhouse Labor Manager

“Where can I start? I love what I do. Working in agriculture has showed me how to use courage, hard work, and responsibility to ensure we all work as a team to maintain our plants and grow the best quality produce possible. It’s a passion seeing that I am a part of a company that grows safe and healthy Tomatoes to feed the community. It’s not only my passion, but my lifestyle. Working in an agriculture environment has not only helped me stay active but has also changed my mindset to eating healthy.”

Aimee A., Human Resources Assistant

“Nature Fresh Farms has given me my first opportunity to work in an agriculture environment. Seeing the process of how we grow and distribute the product first-hand is amazing. I have now learned how much US agriculture feeds people all over the world. The hard work and dedication our employees have for ensuring the world has the best quality product is a blessing to be a part of.”

Lola V., Bio Scout

“Agriculture for me has been a large part of my life, that I see with pride. When I was a little girl. I remember my dad worked very hard in traditional agriculture to provide for his family.

When I immigrated to the U.S. I worked in the fields to provide for my kids. Thanks to agriculture, I was able to give them a better opportunity in this country.

Today, thanks to God, I continue to work in agriculture, but this time is different. This agriculture is modern and uses a lot of technology. For that reason I feel very happy to be part of the Nature Fresh Farms team.

My definition for agriculture is passion for our plants, dedication, hard work, and opportunities.”

Mitchell R., Maintenance Technician

“Agriculture in the US to me is defined by our technology and efficiency. The agricultural communities in the United States are constantly seeking new technologies to increase outputs and reduce waste in order to supply our nation and other nations with adequate produce, grains, oils, etc. The result of this hard work is that the United States holds the top spot in both corn and soybean production and are third in wheat production. Agriculture gives our country the ability to sustain not just our own ways of life, but also assists other countries with sustaining theirs.”

Supporting the Backbone of a Nation

No matter what your perspective on agriculture is, everyone seems to have the same core belief about it: that agriculture (and its people) keeps this country running!
