Defining moments allow you to put certain situations into perspective. This week I had three of those defining moments.
1. Coming from the conventional agricultural background has allowed me to share knowledge and information that other agriprofessionals and consumers know of. To hear how other greenhouse operations differ from NatureFresh ™, allows me and those individuals to think of the bigger picture and assist in the growth and development of producing a quality product throughout the year.
2. The Garden State, AKA New Jersey is home to strong and resilient people. After visiting the areas hardest hit by hurricane Sandy in 2012, I have a greater appreciation of those who remained. Being a strong and united community was apparent to me as I interacted with those who reside close to the retail location we stopped at on Friday.
3. Having a meaningful conversation doesn’t have to be shared verbally. As I interacted with a couple who was hearing impaired, the message of our #GreenInTheCity tour was clear. We show people how we grow by giving them a working greenhouse on wheels and explained all aspects to further the understanding of how we use technology and other tools to assist the plants.
Overall, the experience the consumers receive is our primary goal on tour, but what is not always as visible is how much those that participate in the tour take with them as well. The impact that the GEC has made on me is more than I ever imagined. I am sure that as the weeks continue, it will only be more profound and I cannot wait to share other memories I make.
