This past week we were in New Jersey, the Garden State. I learned quickly that the people of New Jersey are very loyal to their title of the Garden State, and are also very loyal to their Jersey tomatoes.
I can totally relate to that feeling though. Growing up on a blueberry farm has spoiled me as far as blueberries go. I love my Michigan blueberries, and I love my DeGrandchamp Farms blueberries even more.
Luckily, for the case of tomatoes, our New Jersian friends (and many others in the U.S.) can enjoy a great tomato when their favorite local tomatoes are no longer in season. This tomato is called the OhioRed™! With our expansion into Delta, Ohio, we are able to grow these tomatoes year round! I think it is super exciting that NatureFresh™ Farms can grow tomatoes even in the winter months. (Pictured below is our OhioRed™ tomatoes and progress on our greenhouses in Delta)
While we were in New Jersey, we had a little time to visit the shore and make plenty of jokes about the reality show that used to be on MTV, the Jersey Shore. I’ve always loved the beach, and even though it was a cool and cloudy evening, just spending a few minutes at the beach was a really nice treat.
