The weeks are just flying by! I have already been on tour for a month! Just a quick recap of the summer so far: we have been to 3 different states, and one province; visiting almost 20 different grocery stores!
This past week we were in Pennsylvania and although we had a couple of challenging days where we didn’t get the traffic we had hoped, however we still met some really awesome people.
One of those people was Ruth. Ruth works in the produce section at Wegmans in Malvern, PA. We first met her in the morning when she came out to the trailer. She talked to each one of us, listened to us as we talked about the GEC, and learned all of our names. She wanted to know what we were doing and who we are so she could tell everyone in the store about us. Ruth sampled some of our peppers that day and every time I walked through the store; even if I was several yards away from her, I could hear her telling people to visit the Greenhouse Education Center!
We were so grateful for her, she really made it a memorable day!
Another memorable conversation was with two young boys who were about 5 and 6 years old. They were so enthusiastic about the GEC. They went on about how much they love peppers and cucumbers as well as how much they loved learning about the greenhouse. Hearing their excitement was so infectious. Whether the customer is 5 years old or 85 years old, their interest and excitement is infectious. I think that I am very passionate about what I do, but it definitely helps to have interactions like the ones I had with those two boys.
