Our Latest Distribution Center Expansion Project

Why Did We Expand Our Distribution Center?

Nature Fresh Farms Sales has been growing at an incredible pace: we’re constantly adding new partners to our network, and we’re shipping more fresh vegetables to your neighborhood every single day! And as our business has expanded, so have our operations. Our latest expansion project doubled the size of our Distribution Centerin Leamington, ON to 240,000 square feet, keeping our supply chain strong and our communities fed with healthy food.

Doubling the size of our Distribution Center has allowed us to become more flexible and efficient at every level of our operation. With added space and new tools, we can ship and receive more fresh produce while keeping each area of the facility organized. Our team works better together in a space that has been set up for success!

As a company dedicated to caring more for our products, people, and planet, our Distribution Center expansion is a project we’ve been excited to celebrate! Let’s take a closer look at this new facility, the career opportunities we have available at our Distribution Center, and what our team has to say about our company culture.

Big Additions to Our Distribution Center

With this expansion, we were able to separate our Shipping and Receiving departments, double our Dry Goods storage, and add new office space for our team.

Boxes of Nature Fresh Farms produce in Distribution Center

On the new Shipping side of the Distribution Center, we’ve built 10 shipping docks to help us move fresh produce through the supply chain faster. The rest of the Shipping side is meant for storing all our outgoing orders before they are loaded onto trucks. On any given day, you will see thousands of boxes on the shipping side that are filled with fresh vegetables just waiting to be shipped out!

Our entire Distribution Center has been built with the best tools to keep our vegetables crisp, fresh, and safe. Our reverse osmosis misting system keeps humidity levels stable in the Distribution Center and helps with prolonging product shelf-life. We also circulate ozone, a food-safe disinfectant and oxidizer, throughout the Distribution Center to keep mold spurs from spreading. And the facility’s temperature is carefully controlled using PRIVA, an automated climate control system, so every corner of our Distribution Center always has the perfect temperature.

The Dry Goods department is an important part of our Distribution Center operations, so it was essential that we doubled their storage space when we expanded our facility. With more space to store our packaging, labels, and boxes, we can keep our inventory even more organized and our Production department running at its best. We also built 4 new loading docks for our Dry Goods team to keep all dry goods materials moving in and out of our operations smoothly.

One of the finishing touches we put on our Distribution Center expansion is new office spaces! Up to 40 of our Distribution Center team members will be relocated to these new offices, giving us even more room to grow our supply chain team.

A Career at Our Distribution Center

Speaking of our supply chain team—we’re hiring! Expanding our Distribution Center means we are looking for more passionate and dedicated team members to join our ranks.

In fresh produce, there are a wide variety of job opportunities available—from planting to shipping, we need skilled professionals at every level of the supply chain to keep our operations running smoothly. And working with perishable food means that no two days are ever the same, making it that much more exciting! For more information on what it’s like to work in greenhouse farming and the benefits of working at our company, check out this blog!

Our Distribution Center is always looking for people to join our Shipping, Receiving, Quality Control, and Production teams to fill a wide range of positions. We have a variety of shifts available to offer flexibility for our team members and a healthy work-life balance. Just like the rest of our facilities, our Distribution Center operates with a team-oriented mindset where everyone has something to contribute and is valued.

Building a culture where we can do good and care more for our people is just one of the ways we make a difference. Find all our open positions on our Careers page here!
